Is there a minimum level of fitness / swimming requirement
Everyone using the Cable Park is expected to have a basic level of swimming and be reasonably fit. Non swimmers may not use the facilities.
Can I ride the cable if I have a medical condition or if I’m pregnant?
Pregnant women will not be permitted to ride the cable. If you have a medical condition, please consult your doctor before undertaking any activities at Melbourne Cable Park. Our staff are first aid-trained, but they are not medically qualified. Therefore it is your responsibility to ensure that you are fit enough to take part in our activities.
Do you cater for beginners?
Yes, we cater for all levels of wakeboarder, from complete beginner to seasoned professional. We have a number of ways for beginners of any age to learn to wakeboard with us. Check out our website, or contact our customer service team for full details.
Do you offer wakeboarding for people with disabilities?
Accessible wakeboarding will be avialble a the Park int he coming months. Please visit out facebook page for regular updates.
Do you run wakeboarding lessons?
Yes, we plan to offer group and one-to-one lessons for adults, and an academy program for kids. We will also run school holiday programs for kids. We are still developing the details around these sessions. We will update our website and social media channels when they are open for booking.
What do I need to wear?
Everyone riding the cable must wear a helmet and PFD 3 or better standard lifejacket. You can bring your own or rent them from us. These items are included in the cost of your ticket.
Do you hire wetsuits?
Not just yet be we are planning to have these available for groups and classes shortly. In the mean time you are most welcome to bring your own?
Can I bring my own wakeboard?
Yes, but no fins or wax on kickers, sliders or obstacles.
How many lakes are there?
We three lakes in total; one full-size cable lake, one beginners’ lake and a smaller lake with a two-tower cable system for beginners to learn on.
Which direction is the cable spinning in?
On the full-size cable lake it runs clockwise and anti-clockwise on the beginners’ lake. The two-tower system runs back and forth in a straight line.
Do you have changing facilities?
Yes but these are limited. We will be constructing a permanent building with a ticket office, full changing facilities, café and shop. At the moment, we have a shelter and toilets on site. There are public changing rooms and showers across the road in the National Water Sports Centre.
Do you have lockers?
At the moment there are some lockers behind the ticketing shed for the Aqua Fun Park. There are no locks on them but you can bring your own. Our permanent building will have full changing facilities with lockers.
Is there a café?
Not yet. We will be constructing a permanent building with a ticket office, full changing facilities, café, and shop.
Can I water ski on the lake?
No, it’s only for wakeboarding.
What is your bad weather policy?
We will only close the lakes if the weather makes it too dangerous to operate, for example in very high winds or electrical storms.
